Feature: How to Sell Your Property When You’re Still Attached to It?
Parting with a house or apartment filled with memories can be heartbreaking. Whatever the reason for the sale, a well-supported owner will be able to navigate this step with complete peace of mind. The Goretta family entrusted Désormière & Vanhalst with the sale of their house in Loëx (Bernex/GE), resulting in a wonderful story worth sharing.
After fifteen years in their crimson-colored home, the Goretta family decided in 2021 to put it on the market. Having previously contacted Désormière & Vanhalst regarding the purchase of another property, Mathias and Ivana Goretta had no doubt: from the very first moments, they connected with the real estate agents, and it would be to them that the sales mandate for this house into which they had poured their hearts would go. A six-month exclusive contract was therefore signed between the parties. For the Goretta couple, Adrien Désormière and Sandra Vanhalst—unlike many brokers in the market—embodied a blend of humanity, humor, and professionalism.
The agency then deployed a marketing strategy and viewings of the house were organized. Several clients fell in love with the house and made purchase offers. However, at the same time, the Hemma Association learned of the house’s availability and contacted Mathias Goretta, as it was looking for a location to receive and provide long-term support to people with Alzheimer’s disease (or other related forms) and their loved ones. Filling the gaps in Geneva’s existing offerings in this field, this facility would complement the Hemma house, a residence inaugurated in Bernex last September for around ten people with early memory impairment (see pages 38 and 39).
